The API Connector is a powerful general-purpose extensibility tool. With this single connector, users can easily integrate data from all types of APIs and services through the CData Connect Cloud data platform.

Technical features

Connect to any generic, custom, or public API, or other data sources not directly supported out-of-the-box by Connect Cloud.

API data is automatically modeled as a table for easy consumption from analytics and data processes, regardless of the original source format. Connect to APIs like you would a simple database.

Connecting to data from custom APIs used to be a time-consuming and tedious process, best left to software developers or IT - but not anymore. The API Connector's intuitive online configuration wizard guides users through API consumption via straightforward point-and-click configuration.

As with other connections, CData Connect Cloud provides a standard SQL-92 compliant interface to data. After configuring an API connection, users can access the data the same way they would with any other data source connection. The powerful SQL engine of Connect Cloud seamlessly translates SQL queries into API calls, making the data ready for analytics, reporting, and data management.

The straightforward configuration wizard guides users through defining data tables, fields, and other parameters to access API data. Users can preview criteria and test outputs through the online data explorer.

API security centers around protecting APIs from malicious attacks, ensuring only authorized users access and use them, and safeguarding transmitted data from unauthorized access or manipulation. The API Connector supports major API security and access controls, including advanced SSL and TLS network encryption and user authentication via Basic Auth, Digest Auth, OAuth 1.0, OAuth 2.0, and more.

Embedded data pagination offers granular control of API data processing across multiple requests. Control the page size and number of records with four pagination types: Offset, Number, Token, and URL.

Filtering criteria and parameters are pushed to the data source API to process requests, returning only the requested data, reducing the amount of data to transfer and further enhancing performance.
