Introducing Query Builder: Get the Data You Need Faster with No Code

Query Builder

Users often find themselves spending hours hunting down the data they need. With the right tools to find and create specific datasets for different uses, data can be more easily accessed and used to empower better business outcomes and decisions. CData Connect Cloud has launched its newest feature, Query Builder, which enables users to easily understand, find, blend, and create datasets on the fly, with a simple no-code interface. Instead of debugging complicated SQL queries, waiting for weeks on a data request, or manually rearranging columns in spreadsheets, Connect Cloud enables users to simply find, select, filter, and create the dataset they need to get back to business.

Available today, Query Builder accelerates time to value by providing a clear and straightforward wizard to find and select data without code. This means you can work with custom datasets, automatically updated by Connect Cloud to reflect the latest changes in your preferred systems. Let’s take a look at how to use Query Builder to create a dataset.

1. Select the data source

On the left navigation bar, select Data Explorer, then select the Query Builder button on the top right. Prefer to use natural language to create a SQL query instead? Try the AI SQL Generator next to the Query Builder button.

Select the source system, the schema (if applicable), and the table you want to blend data from.

2. Customizing the dataset

Next, combine data from additional tables (even from completely different source systems!), filter, define metrics, and sort data to define your dataset. You just need to configure these rules once; they will stay in place and continue to update in your new dataset based on the changes in the source.

Query Builder

Combine and apply different SQL joins on other data tables, matching data based on a key that you select.

Query Builder

Select the attributes and columns you’d like in your output data, filtering out noise, unnecessary data, and even sensitive data that others shouldn’t see.

Query Builder

Apply mathematical functions on specific columns.

Finally, sort in ascending or descending order from any selected column.

3. Previewing and saving your new dataset

Once you’ve built your query and output dataset, you can preview the SQL query that was built under the SQL tab.

Query Builder

Preview the output dataset under the Preview tab. Once you’re happy with the results, click Execute to query your data and save your dataset.

Once you’ve executed the query in the Data Explorer, you can save and share the dataset for later use and reuse by saving as a Derived View or Saved Query.

Query builder: An intuitive way to create SQL queries

With the new Query Builder, finding the data you need is clear and logical, with live previews of datasets instead of complicated SQL code, making finding, blending, and getting the data you need much easier. Once the rules of the query you’ve built are saved in Connect Cloud, that data can be instantly accessed in any of the 100+ client tool destinations supported in Connect Cloud.
