CData Sync

Replicate Multiple Sage 50 UK Accounts

Replicate multiple Sage 50 UK accounts to one or many databases.

CData Sync for Sage 50 UK is a stand-alone application that provides solutions for a variety of replication scenarios such as replicating sandbox and production instances into your database. Both Sync for Windows and Sync for Java include a command-line interface (CLI) that makes it easy to manage multiple Sage 50 UK connections. In this article we show how to use the CLI to replicate multiple Sage 50 UK accounts.

Configure Sage 50 UK Connections

You can save connection and email notification settings in an XML configuration file. To replicate multiple Sage 50 UK accounts, use multiple configuration files. Below is an example configuration to replicate Sage 50 UK to SQLite:

Windows

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <CDataSync> <DatabaseType>SQLite</DatabaseType> <DatabaseProvider>System.Data.SQLite</DatabaseProvider> <ConnectionString>URL=http://your-server:5493/sdata/accounts50/GCRM/your-address;User=Manager;</ConnectionString> <ReplicateAll>False</ReplicateAll> <NotificationUserName></NotificationUserName> <DatabaseConnectionString>Data Source=C:\my.db</DatabaseConnectionString> <TaskSchedulerStartTime>09:51</TaskSchedulerStartTime> <TaskSchedulerInterval>Never</TaskSchedulerInterval> </CDataSync>

Java

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <CDataSync> <DatabaseType>SQLite</DatabaseType> <DatabaseProvider>org.sqlite.JDBC</DatabaseProvider> <ConnectionString>URL=http://your-server:5493/sdata/accounts50/GCRM/your-address;User=Manager;</ConnectionString> <ReplicateAll>False</ReplicateAll> <NotificationUserName></NotificationUserName> <DatabaseConnectionString>Data Source=C:\my.db</DatabaseConnectionString> </CDataSync>

Note: Only Sage 50 UK 2012 and above are supported.

The User and Password properties, under the Connection section, must be set to valid Sage 50 UK user credentials. These values will be the same used to log in to the Sage 50 UK software.

Additionally, the URL property, under the Connection section, will need to be set to the address of the company dataset desired. To obtain the address, do the following:

  1. If you have not already done so, open the Sage 50 UK software.
  2. Click Tools -> Internet Options.
  3. Select the SData Settings tab.
  4. Click the Details button next to Sage 50 Accounts. A window is displayed containing a list of company names along with the address to their corresponding datasets.
  5. Set the URL property to the value in the address field next to the company desired.

Configure Queries for Each Sage 50 UK Instance

Sync enables you to control replication with standard SQL. The REPLICATE statement is a high-level command that caches and maintains a table in your database. You can define any SELECT query supported by the Sage 50 UK API. The statement below caches and incrementally updates a table of Sage 50 UK data:

REPLICATE TradingAccounts;

You can specify a file containing the replication queries you want to use to update a particular database. Separate replication statements with semicolons. The following options are useful if you are replicating multiple Sage 50 UK accounts into the same database:

You can use a different table prefix in the REPLICATE SELECT statement:

REPLICATE PROD_TradingAccounts SELECT * FROM TradingAccounts

Alternatively, you can use a different schema:

REPLICATE PROD.TradingAccounts SELECT * FROM TradingAccounts

Run Sync

After you have configured the connection strings and replication queries, you can run Sync with the following command-line options:

Windows

Sage50UKSync.exe -g MyProductionSage50UKConfig.xml -f MyProductionSage50UKSync.sql

Java

java -Xbootclasspath/p:c:\sqlitejdbc.jar -jar Sage50UKSync.jar -g MyProductionSage50UKConfig.xml -f MyProductionSage50UKSync.sql
