Data Synchronization

Data synchronization is the process of ensuring that data in two or more locations is consistent and current. This involves continuously updating each data source to reflect changes made in the others so that the data is identical across different systems, devices, or databases in real-time or near real-time. Data synchronization can be bidirectional, where changes in any location are replicated across all others, or unidirectional, where updates from one primary source are pushed to other locations.

Applications that operate on multiple platforms or devices need data synchronization to enable a seamless user experience by ensuring users have access to the same information no matter where they access it from. Data synchronization supports various operations, including backup and recovery, collaborative working environments, and data integration among disparate systems within an organization.
