Start with CData Sync Part 1: Licensing, Creating Connections, and Creating a Replication Job



CData Sync provides automated, continuous replication of your enterprise data to any data store. In this article, we show how to license your CData Sync installation, create data source and data destination connections, and create a basic replication job.

Download, Install, and License CData Sync

  1. Navigate to the CData Sync page and download Sync: https://www.cdata.com/sync/download/
  2. Next, install CData Sync. The login page should automatically open in the browser after installation completes. If not, navigate to the login page in your browser (localhost:8019, by default).
  3. After logging in, navigate to the settings page using the gear icon () and click Activate 30-Day Trial.
  4. After activating the 30-Day Trial, your screen should now look like this:

Connect to a Data Source

  1. Now, navigate to the Connections tab to select a Data Source. We use Salesforce here.
  2. Name your connection and configure the necessary connection properties. For more information on the necessary connection properties, click View Documentation. Some data sources have a Connect button, which will trigger any required authentication flows.
  3. Click Create and Test to save the Data Source Connection.

Connect to a Replication Destination

  1. Next, go back to the main Connections page and select a Destination. We use MySQL here.
  2. Name your connection and configure the necessary connection properties. For more information on the necessary connection properties, click View Documentation. Some replication destinations have a Connect button, which will trigger any required authentication flows.
  3. Click Save and Test to save the Destination Connection.

Create a Replication Job

  1. After configuring your destination, navigate to the Jobs tab and click +Create Job. Name the Job and select the source and destination.
  2. Next, click +Add Tasks to select the tables you wish to replicate and click Save Changes.
  3. Click the Jobs tab to view the newly configured replication job.
